In April 2021, card brands shifted the liability for fraudulent transactions. Merchants not fully equipped with Outdoor EMV (OEMV) technology are responsible for all fraudulent transactions.
Pay-at-pump chargebacks with a reason of “EMV Liability Shift” indicate a cardholder disputed the transaction with their card issuer. If a card was swiped at the pump instead of the EMV chip being inserted, the merchant is fully responsible.
Invenco is now offering an affordable, high-quality solution to upgrade to outdoor EMV (OEMV). Outdoor payment terminals are available for purchase or rent through Invenco.
For Cenex branded sites, Invenco is running a promotion that allows sites to upgrade their terminals to OEMV for approximately $800*. From there, retailers will pay $159 per pump/per month for two outdoor payment terminals.
The Invenco-i2 program includes the following features
- Top quality hardware, retrofitted into a site’s existing pumps (for any major pump make/model)
- HD touchscreen, contactless payment reader, 2D barcode scanner, and thermal printer
- Fast, easy installation which requires limited site interruption
- No more “surprise” invoices, with parts, labor and support covered over the length of the four-year Invenco-i2 contract
- Access to Invenco Support and Service desk
