Disabling Contactless Magstripe Transactions

As previously communicated, the major credit card brands have mandated that merchants stop accepting contactless transactions that utilize older, less secure magstripe technology. They will begin assessing fees for locations still accepting these transactions beginning in the summer. As a result of this card brand mandate, CHS Payment Solutions will disable all magstripe contactless transactions effective June 17, 2024.

The disabling of magstripe contactless transactions could impact both dispensers and indoor transactions if your location is running expired software. If your POS system does not support EMV contactless transactions, they will be declined.

The table below* shows the status of EMV contactless acceptance on each of the supported POS systems:

Dispenser hardware or software updates may be required to accept EMV contactless transactions. Please check with your Authorized Service Contractor to see if your dispensers require any updates.

If you have any questions about contactless magstripe transactions being disabled or upgrading to EMV contactless supported equipment, please contact CHS Payment Solutions at 800-852-5301.

* To avoid transaction issues, CHS Payment Solutions recommends covering contactless card readers until software is upgraded to a version that supports EMV contactless transactions
