Disabling Contactless Magstripe Transactions

The major credit card brands have mandated that merchants stop accepting contactless transactions that utilize older, less secure magstripe technology. They will begin assessing fees for locations still accepting these transactions beginning in the Spring.  As a result of this card brand mandate, CHS Payment Solutions will disable all magstripe contactless transactions effective April 25, 2023.

The disabling of magstripe contactless transactions will only impact dispensers. Indoor transactions are not impacted for locations on CHS approved software.

We are actively working to certify software that supports EMV contactless transactions, however the software must first be released by our Point of Sale (POS) partners. The table below shows the status of EMV contactless acceptance on each of the supported POS systems:

If your POS system does not support EMV contactless transactions, they will be declined. To avoid transaction issues, CHS Payment Solutions recommends covering contactless card readers until software is upgraded to a version that supports EMV contactless transactions.

If you have any questions about contactless magstripe transactions being disabled or upgrading to EMV contactless supported equipment, please contact CHS Payment Solutions at 800-852-5301.
