AVS Not Necessary for Locations Accepting EMV at the Pump
AVS (Address Verification Service) and Velocity Check are fraud reduction tools that can be useful when submitting transactions via magstripe processing but can lead to customer frustration during the transaction. With EMV creating secure payments at the pump, these tools are no longer needed.
If your Automated Fueling Dispenser (AFD) and POS are EMV capable, both tools can be removed immediately. CHS Payment Solutions has removed Velocity Check from locations now accepting EMV at the pump. However, AVS cannot be removed by CHS Payment Solutions and must be removed by the location or a technician.
