2021 AFD Protection Plan Extension

CHS Payment Solutions would like to make merchants aware of an update to the 2021 Automated Fueling Dispenser (AFD) Protection Plan. Based on the Outdoor EMV (OEMV) software timelines received from our POS manufacturers, CHS Payment Solutions has made the decision to extend fraudulent chargeback coverage to August 31, 2021. This will be the final extension for fraudulent chargeback coverage, and will apply to all chargebacks that have posted by August 31, 2021. The coverage limit will remain at $1,000. Once coverage has ended on September 1, 2021, fraudulent chargebacks will no longer be covered under the AFD Protection Plan.

All POS manufacturers have stated OEMV software will be available by the end of summer, which is why CHS Payment Solutions has extended this coverage to August 31. Please note, merchants who have upgraded to OEMV hardware will not experience a lapse in chargeback coverage. Once OEMV software is available and installed, the issuer will provide coverage for fraudulent chargebacks for all merchants that have upgraded to OEMV.

To help merchants track fraudulent chargebacks, CHS Payment Solutions has added an AFD Protection Plan module to the Merchant Services Online Access (MSOA) dashboard. With this module, merchants can track the total dollars of fraudulent chargebacks that have occurred at each of their locations. Please view an example of the AFD Protection Plan module to the right. Click “View Details” to review specific location information. If locations go over the $1,000 limit, details of all charged back transactions can be found in the “Chargebacks” MSOA report.
