Voyager EMV Chip Cards – Pay At Pump Transactions

CHS Payment Solutions has recently identified an issue that occurs when Voyager EMV Chip Cards are used at EMV enabled dispensers.

When a Voyager chip card is used at the pump, the transaction will not process and the error message “See Attendant” will occur. The only way for this transaction to successfully process is for the customer to pay inside via the magstripe on their card.

Why is this error occurring?

When a new card type is introduced to the payment space, each card brand has specific software and certifications that must be followed for EMV chip card transactions to successfully process. Once the software specifications are in place, development is performed by processors and Point of Sale (POS) manufacturers based on those specifications.

When all the major card brands began their development for EMV chip cards, the Voyager specifications were not available. Since then, Voyager has begun to release EMV chip cards even though the software development for their chip cards is not complete.

When will this issue be fixed?

CHS Payment Solutions is currently working with POS manufacturers to get this issue resolved. We will also be part of industry discussions to prevent issues like this from happening in the future. In the meantime, customers should be able to successfully process inside transactions using the magstripe on their card. Customers can also request a magstripe card from Voyager or their issuing channel partner.
