Payment System Product Codes
A product code is a three-digit number that is used to identify a product/service sold during a transaction. If a merchant uses a general or incorrect product code, transactional issues such as chargebacks could occur. Using correct product codes will ensure transaction amounts are calculated correctly and will assist in limiting chargebacks.
Mapping the product codes in your Point of Sale (POS) system vary between manufacturers. If you have product code mapping questions, please contact the appropriate parties per your POS system.
