2021 AFD Protection Plan Update
CHS Payment Solutions would like to make merchants aware of a recent update to the 2021 Automated Fueling Dispenser (AFD) Protection Plan. Based on the Outdoor EMV (OEMV) software timelines received from our POS manufacturers, CHS Payment Solutions has made the decision to extend fraudulent chargeback coverage for all chargebacks that have posted by June 30, 2021. The coverage limit will remain at $1,000.
Once this coverage has ended on July 1, 2021, fraudulent chargebacks will no longer be covered under the AFD Protection Plan. Please note, merchants who have upgraded to OEMV hardware will not experience a lapse in chargeback coverage. Once OEMV software is available and installed, the issuer will provide coverage for fraudulent chargebacks for all merchants that have upgraded to OEMV.
If your location experiences a large number of fraudulent chargebacks, CHS Payment Solutions recommends researching additional tools to help mitigate AFD fraud, such as Address Verification Service (AVS) and Velocity Check. When AVS is implemented, the POS will prompt for a zip code during transactions. The system will then check the zip code provided by the customer against the billing zip code on file. With Velocity Check, outside transactions will be limited to 3 transactions per card in a 24 hour period. After 3 transactions, cardholders will be forced to pay inside. If you would like to implement or learn more about AVS or Velocity Check, please contact your Authorized Service Contractor or CHS Payment Solutions.
Merchants can easily access chargeback information on the AFD Protection Plan dashboard within Merchant Services Online Access (MSOA). In addition, the “Chargebacks Within Annual Outside Limit” report on MSOA gives merchants a more detailed view of the chargebacks, including where they are in relation to the cap as well as outlining each transaction up to the $1,000 limit.
Please contact CHS Payment Solutions at 800-852-5301 for any questions regarding the AFD Protection Plan, or if you’d like to learn more about additional tools to help mitigate fraud.
