2021 Automated Fueling Dispenser Protection Plan

The CHS Payment Solutions Automated Fueling Dispenser (AFD) Protection Plan* covers lost/stolen chargebacks for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. For calendar year 2021, lost/stolen chargebacks will be covered underneath the AFD Protection Plan from January 1 – April 30 with a limit of $1,000.

Once outdoor EMV liability has shifted to the merchant, beginning May 1, 2021, lost/stolen chargebacks will no longer be covered under the AFD Protection Plan. Please note, merchants who have upgraded to outdoor EMV will not experience a lapse in chargeback coverage. Once outdoor EMV liability has shifted, the issuer will provide coverage for lost/stolen chargebacks for all merchants that have upgraded to outdoor EMV.

CHS Payment Solutions offers additional tools to help mitigate AFD fraud, including Address Verification Service (AVS). When AVS is implemented, the POS will prompt for a zip code during transactions. The system will then check the zip code provided by the customer against the billing zip code on file. If merchants have not upgraded to outdoor EMV by the April 2021 deadline, AVS can be implemented to potentially reduce fraud. If you would like to implement or learn more about AVS, please contact your Authorized Service Contractor.

Merchants can easily access chargeback information on the AFD Protection Plan dashboard within Merchant Services Online Access (MSOA). In addition, the “Chargebacks Within Annual Outside Limit” report on MSOA gives merchants a more detailed view of the chargebacks, including where they are in relation to the cap as well as outlining each transaction up to the $1,000 limit.

Please contact CHS Payment Solutions at 800-852-5301 for any questions regarding the AFD Protection Plan, or if you’d like to learn more about additional tools to help mitigate fraud.

*Please note, at this time, transactions that fall underneath the EMV counterfeit liability shift occurring in April of 2021 will not be covered by this plan.
