Important update for sites using POS Protect+ with AER1600 firewall hardware
We want to make you aware of an upcoming change that affects locations currently using POS Protect+ for VX520 Service with PDI’s AER1600 Series firewall hardware.
AER1600 firewall hardware reaches end of life (EOL) in 2026
Effective February 10, 2026, the AER1600 Series firewall hardware will reach EOL status. After this date, PDI will no longer provide:
- Technical support
- Hardware maintenance
- Bug fixes or security patches
- Firmware or software updates
- Replacement parts
To ensure your network security remains fully supported, action will be required before this deadline.
What to expect next
Over the coming months, impacted sites will automatically receive new PaySafe firewall hardware at no cost. Each shipment will include everything needed for a quick installation.
Installation is simple and should not require an ASC or POS technician. Sites should expect the swap to take just 5–10 minutes.
Additional installation instructions and shipping details will be provided with your equipment. A prepaid return label will also be included to make returning the old AER1600 hardware easy and convenient.
Action required
To ensure uninterrupted support and security, please install and begin using the new hardware as soon as it arrives.
What isn’t changing
PDI’s service, as well as the features and benefits of the PaySafe firewall solution, will remain the same. Only the hardware is being refreshed.
